Dr. Newman earned his B.A. degree with high honors from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College Scholars Program. He graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine and then his internal medicine internship was performed at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Paterson, NJ. He then completed an anesthesiology residency at Seton Hall University’s Postgraduate School of Medicine in 1990.
Dr. Newman has earned board certifications in anesthesiology and also pain medicine. He practiced for 15 years in the Knoxville area. In 2005 he moved to Williamston, North Carolina, a rural community in eastern North Carolina as chairman of the Department of anesthesia. Dr. Newman is honored to have served as chief of the medical staff at Martin General Hospital from 2008-2013.
Dr. Newman was happy to return home to Knoxville with his wife Cindy in 2013 and open Genesis Analgesia Center, PLLC where he practices today. Cindy is a Knoxville native and a graduate of both UT Knoxville and UT’s College of Law. They met as undergraduates at the University of Tennessee and have been married since 1984.
